Strange, unique new horror trailer premiers for upcoming ‘The Witch’ movie

Horror movies are great. Loved by cinephiles and casual movie fans alike, there is some almost primal about being so scared by the images and sounds a film can present that you literally need to cover your eyes and ears. Or, even worse, are forced to do that awful (sometimes embarrassing) jump-out-of-your-seat move all movie goers are also familiar with. But, for all the amazing entertainment value that horror movies provide, they can be a bit formulaic. Whether its Jason XXIII, or Alien Vs. Whatever, it seems the industry sometimes recycles tried-and-true tropes they know will do solidly at the box office, before taking a risk on seriously ambitious, completely new content.

However, a new trailer for the film The Witch, shows that this is one movie that is as original as anything the genre has seen in years. Debuting widely in 2016, the film is said to have left audiences at Sundance and other film festivals literally speechless. Will this be the next horror film to join the ranks of The Exorcist and others as one of the best of all time? We shall see. Check out the trailer below, which (spoiler alert) doesn’t really contain any cheap jump-scares, making the whole thing seem even more promising in our minds.

Leonardo DiCaprio x Tom Hardy x Alejandro Inarritu = COMPLETE EPICNESS

Fresh off cleaning up last Award’s season with the visually stunning Birdman, director Alejandro Inarritu has dropped his new trailer this morning for the upcoming The Revenant, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy.

Based partially on true events as recorded in a novel of the same name by Michael Punke, the movie follows legendary explorer Hugh Glass (DiCaprio) in the rugged wilderness of the absolute earliest stages of the Wild West on a quest for survival, revenge, and ultimately; freedom. But seriously, words do this trailer no justice.

Wednesday Morning Movie Trailer Round-Up

It is the industry standard that DVDs, Blu Rays, and CDs (those still ship?) are delivered to electronics stores on Tuesdays. I wish I could tell you why. But what I’m less sure of is if Wednesdays are a common day for movie studios to drop new trailers.

That certainly seems to be the case this Wednesday, as a couple of pretty awesome previews have already appeared online. And we, of course, have them aggregated here for you below.

‘Joy’ is the newest film from David O’Russell, director of Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle. The movie is being described as wild, generational story centered around ‘the woman who founds a business and becomes a matriarch in her own right’. It stars Jennifer Lawrence, who has appeared also in both the O’Russell films mentioned above.

The other new trailer out this morning is an awesome looking new comedy from Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, which appears to be a type of Step Brothers/Old School hybrid, aka, appears to be pretty promising.

Both movies are due out later this year.
